Upcoming Travel Plans

Having arrived home from the France last Friday after a painful 15 hour coach journey, it hit me that I had no idea what was next for me. The only vague plan I had was that I was doing another winter season next year. This gives me 6 months to fill, but with that? To find a proper job back home? To work a summer season? To go travelling? I couldn’t have packed in my 9 to 5 job for all the fun to be over this quickly.

Unfortunately, money is not on my side. Thankfully, I have family living all across the globe. So hey, guess what? I’m off to Thailand in two weeks! It turns out that your Grandad causing a family drama and moving out to the Land of Smiles to marry a woman half his age has its perks. Oh, and did I mention her name is Porn? Apparently this is a common Thai name and has no link to the English meaning, but we can still all have a little giggle.

My trip to Thailand has been equally as spontaneous as my moving briefly to France. In total, three messages had been exchanged between me and my Grandad before flights were booked to Bangkok leaving two weeks today. I’m not entirely sure what to expect when I arrive, all I know is that their house is North East of Bangkok and very very rural. I’m excited though; hopefully this means (other than a few days in the capital), I’ll avoid the tourist routes and see how the Thai people really live.

All that’s left for me now is to pack my sandals and my mosquito spray. Thirty degrees here we come.
